At an old job, which I left many months ago (November 2009), a project manager once laughed at me for suggesting I take photos for an upcoming campaign we had. I easily had the skill required for the type of shots we wanted, not to say the equipment too.
So, even though I had a decent portfolio demonstrating the skills required to take an afternoon off taking photos and it wouldn’t have ruined the time-line, I was shunned form doing something I thoroughly enjoy because I was just a developer. It’s sickening.
This ultimately pissed me off and was the tipping point of my decision to leave, amongst other things. If it were up to me, I’d have given anyone the chance to take the photos if they felt they were up to it, with a few clauses obviously.
Anywhere that won’t let me use my strengths to their advantage isn’t worth my time.

WordPress can tell if you have pretty URLs and will redirect you there before the page even loads, as it’s all server side. The main benefit would be that it keeps your domain name in the link, and therefore part of your branding. It does have to go in the loop though.
So for this post, the following gets put into the page.
