The Ongoing Theme #
I’m almost sure you’ve already commented in your head at the lack of design here, but there is theory in my madness.
All to often people don’t release their websites until the content & design is as perfect as it can be.
Working for a London based web design agency, I know needing a site looking & working (almost) perfectly can be and usually is a good thing, as clients budgets & deadlines can’t stretch on forever. Don’t get me wrong, we have a few clients who continuously come back with new ideas & improvements, but even then, they’re well tested before going live.
With the above said, I do feel that on personal projects, like a blog, we can afford to take our time. So what I’m doing, is I’m going to design this site over the coming months/years. Rather than go through versions of the design, I’m going to slowly evolve it, starting with a complete blank canvas, in the shape of Starkers HTML5.
In this journey, I hope to learn more about web design & how people use & interact with this site as well as the web in general. I’ll have all the time I need to think of things from new features, right down to the amount of pixels between the bottom of the content and the start of the footer.
I think I’ll write about the changes I make, seeking critique. Be warned!
