Rant: Text & Voice VS Internet Prices #
I find it a little confusing & damn annoying how the price of the internet on my iPhone is, effectively free, no limits. But if I send a few hundred texts over my limits, I get slapped with a 25 quid bill?!
Sending a photo to Flickr, which I do on occasion would use many kilobytes of data through the air, along with apps like Tweetie, Facebook & Tumblr all use a decent chunk of data, and in relative to my contract, it’s free.
So how comes sending a text, which used bytes of data, costs 10p? I understad it (probably) using a different system, but in a world where we can freely tweet from mountains & share photos with millions of people in the click of a screen, why is it not cheeper to text, call & send picture messages? The least networks could do is significantly increase the limits of text data.
It’s all a little fucked up.
